Little Fish
This beautiful childrens book has been created by Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG)
‘Little Fish’, a poignant story inspired by the Garden's geographical setting, weaving together themes of nature and spiritual growth.
Authored by KFBG Chairman Andrew McAulay and beautifully illustrated by Lucy Hinton, ‘Little Fish’ is a charming and insightful tale that encourages readers to contemplate the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the journey of inner transformation and growth.
A Story of Hope and Transformation
‘Little Fish’ is set against the backdrop of Kwun Yum Shan, where KFBG is situated. It tells the story of a little fish living in a rocky pond beneath the sacred mountain who embarks on a journey seeking redemption after discord among companions leads to ecological imbalance. Through arduous leaps and magical metamorphoses, the little fish ultimately grasps the importance of compassion and empathy, and takes action to restore harmony to both nature and its community.
‘Little Fish’ is not only ideal for parent-child reading but also serves as valuable material for life education and environmental education in schools and environmental organisations. Its cross-cultural themes and Hong Kong's unique geographical backdrop also make it a window for international families to learn about local nature and culture. The public is welcome to participate in activities and workshops related to Little Fish to delve deeper into the story's natural and spiritual world.
